If you're planning to distribute POAPs at an event, you want to ensure that the process is seamless and secure. That's where POAP Kiosk comes in. POAP Kiosk can distribute POAPs securely (more secure than a standard POAP Website) both at online and IRL events. By loading the Kiosk with the mint links file you receive when you create a drop, you create a dynamic screen that will rotate unique QR codes each time one is scanned. This ensures that your mint links won't be leaked and potentially obtained by illegitimate collectors.
Below, you’ll find some issues users bump into when using Kiosk for the first time and how to solve them:
1. Mint links already distributed
When creating your Kiosk, you need to upload your mint links “.txt” file to start distributing your POAPs. Sometimes, issuers upload a file with mint links that have already been distributed, and they can’t create their Kiosk. To solve this issue, make sure that you’re uploading a file with unused mint links. To check if the mint links in your “.txt” files have been used, you can use this "code checker " tool.
2. Mint links are all gone, but all have not been actually minted
When a collector scans a QR code displayed on your POAP Kiosk, that unique mint link is reserved for five minutes so the collector has time to mint it. Sometimes, it may happen that collectors scan more than one, accidentally locking up a large number of mint links and causing the Kiosk to deplete before all your POAPs are actually minted. If this happens, you can either wait five minutes until they unblock, or request more mint links for your Drop from the POAP Drops interface (note: if you request more mint links, it will likely take longer than five minutes for the Curation Body to review and approve this request).
If you request more mint links, once the Curation Body has approved your request, you can upload them to your Kiosk by following these steps:
- Return to the admin portal of your Kiosk by using the “admin URL” received via email. These can also be downloaded from the POAP Drops portal.
3. Need to add more mint links to the Kiosk
When you run out of mint links for your Kiosk, return to your Kiosk admin panel (received via email) to request more mint links (AKA a “top-up”) from the POAP Drops interface. Once the Curation Body has approved your request for more mint links, close your current Kiosk and recreate one with the updated links.txt file.
4. Minting taking a long time
It sometimes takes a little bit of time before your precious collectible is preserved on the blockchain, AKA minted. When the wait time is longer than expected, don’t panic. It may take a couple of minutes. You can close the browser window or POAP Home app (iOS/android) and continue enjoying your event; the POAP will be delivered to your address soon.
5. Accidentally sharing the admin URL
When you create a Kiosk, you will be given two URLs. One is the URL you should use to display the QR codes (the public URL). The other URL is your admin URL that allows you to manage your Kiosk. You should never share your admin URL with attendees, as this allows anyone to manage the settings of your Kiosk and possibly access all of your mint links. When setting up the POAP Kiosk display, make absolutely sure that you are using the public URL and not the admin one.
If you believe it is at all possible that the admin URL to your POAP Kiosk has been shared or compromised, delete the POAP Kiosk and create a new one with the same mint links .txt file by following the steps below:
- Access admin link (sent via email after creating Kiosk)
- Click Delete Kiosk:
- You will receive a success message that your Kiosk has been deleted:
- Go back to Kiosk homepage
-
Create a new Kiosk using the same mint links file
