How to Create, Edit, and Share Moments – POAP Help Center

What are POAP Moments?

POAP Moments is a feature within the POAP ecosystem that allows collectors to upload photos and other media to specific POAPs they have collected. This feature helps to create a richer, more interactive experience by associating visual memories with the digital collectible itself. For instance, if someone collects a POAP from an event, they and other attendees can upload photos and media from that event, making the POAP a more comprehensive memento of the occasion.

A Moment can be:

a photo or image
a video
an audio file
a link to an article, site, or NFT
a text note

Getting around the Moments site

When you visit moments.poap.xyz (soon change to poap.media), the home screen features Capsules hand-picked by our team. To view all the Moments within one of those Capsule - click on the button under the Capsules title.

A Capsule is a set of Moments. Currently all Moments must be linked to a POAP - so a group of Moments linked to a POAP is called a Capsule. In the future users will be able to create Capsules without linking to a POAP, or create Capsules with multiple POAPs linked to them.

Navigation

In the navigation menu at the top of the screen, the Home tab will be highlighted by default. You can click on the Explore tab to see a live feed of Moments as they are created. To the right of these tabs are the Create Moments button and the Connect Wallet button. Use the Create Moments button to start the creation process. Once you connect you wallet you will see an account section with your ENS or ETH address with a dropdown menu to access your profile. You can also disconnect from this account dropdown panel.

Explore

The Explore screen displays a live feed of all Moments displayed as thumbnails with the following information:

Name of creator
When the Moment was created
The POAP or Capsule it is linked to
A caption if provided

If you are connected to the platform with the wallet you created Moments with, you will also see Share and Delete buttons when hovering or tapping on these thumbnails.

Search for POAPs by title or ID in the search field at the top of the Explore page to find other Capsules or Moments. You can search for Moments from multiple POAPs by clicking the + button next to the name of the POAP in the dropdown.

You can remove a POAP from the search list by clicking the X button to the right of the POAP name in the filter tag.

Moment Detail

After clicking on a Moment’s thumbnail, you can see a full size version of the Moment and all the information about that Moment in the detail view:

Name of the Moment’s creator
When it was published or updated
POAP title the Moment is linked to - with the Drop ID, number of Moments linked to that POAP with a link to view
People tagged in that Moment
Media: type, file size, format, and the dimensions (if available)
Buttons to share the moment on X, Farcaster, or to copy a link

Capsule or Profile gallery

There are actions you can take when viewing a group of Moments in a Capsule or in a Profile screen. At the top of the screen is information about the POAP including:

POAP artwork
Drop ID
Title
Number of Moments

There are links to view more information about this POAP on POAP Gallery and POAP Family, as well as the ability to view all in Moments Live. You can also share the entire Capsule by using the share buttons for X, Farcaster, or copy a link.

You can add moments to the Capsule you are viewing quickly by clicking on the “Add a Moment” panel at the start of the Moments feed.

When viewing a profile page, you can use the tabbed navigation below the user’s name to view Moments they created or are tagged in.

About Moments Live

When you click the Moments live button, you will see a QR code in the middle of the screen and a countdown timer while the live feed is created. After a few seconds, an animated view of all the Moments in the Capsule will play behind the QR code. This is a great way to display a live feed of Moments at an event. Your guests can add to the live feed by scanning the QR code and uploading their own photos, videos, audio files, links, or notes.

Create a Moment

You can browse and explore Moments from the Home page - which showcases featured Capsules from popular events or from the Explore feed of individual Moments.

If you want to create Moments, you’ll need to connect a wallet first to verify your identity.

Note: Connecting your wallet does not allow access to your wallets assets. No transactions can be made on your part when connected.

Click on the Connect Wallet button in the upper right to get started. The popup dialog will allow you to choose the wallet provider you want to use such as:

Metamask
Coinbase Wallet
Rainbow
Any wallet that supports WalletConnect

Once connected click the “Create Moments” button in the top right of the page

Choose the type of Moment you want to create:
- Add media: Photos, video, or an audio file
- Save a link: websites, articles, NFTs or any URL
- Leave a note: write your thoughts or comments

Create a Moment: Add Media

Add Media will bring up a file menu on your browser - select the file you want to upload and upload the file

You can include a caption of the Moment you are uploading but this is not required

Select a drop to link to the moment by searching by name or ID. Once you have selected the drop, you can also tag people who were at the event if you know their ETH address or ENS. Once your Moment is ready, click the Create Moment button in the lower right of the screen.

You can add more files after they are loaded by clicking the Add media link, or delete them by clicking on the X icon in the upper right of the thumbnail. Once you are satisifed with the Moment you want to create, click the Create Moment button at the bottom of the screen to proceed.
NOTE: This creates ONE Moment with multiple media items. You can add a caption and tag people while creating your Moment or edit these details later. Soon we will have the ability to choose whether you want to create one moment when uploading several items at once or multiple Moments from each.

Once you create your Moment - you can share it on X, Farcaster, or copy a link to share on the platform of your choice from the Share with friends buttons underneath the Moment preview.

Create a Moment: Save a link

Click on the Save a link from the Create Moments screen if you want to link to a URL - including websites, articles, social media posts, or even NFTs. Add your link in the field provided and click the save button inside that field to generate the link preview. If you haven’t already linked a drop, you can search by name or ID exactly as described in the Add Media process above.

Add a caption for this link and add to a Capsule if you want to and click the Create Moment button in the bottom of the screen.

Create a Moment: Leave a note

Just want to leave a note about what made this moment special? Choose the Leave a note option from the Create Moments screen. Write your note and click the Create Moment button at the bottom of the screen. As with other Moments you create, you will need to link this Moment to a Capsule in the field next to the Moment.

How to delete a POAP Moment:

You will need to have the wallet you used to upload the moment connected to POAP Moments
From the Explore page, search for the POAP, Drop or ID that your Moment was created for

or - go to your profile by clicking on your ENS or wallet address in the upper right and clicking the My profile link

Find the Moment you want to delete
Click the trash icon button on the top right of the Moment

When you click delete - you will get a confirmation screen. If you are sure you want to delete this moment click Continue to remove the Moment

Note: Once a Moment is deleted, it cannot be recovered

Sharing POAP Moments

You can share across many platforms and from many different places across the Moments platform. Sharing is great!

From the Moment preview

On the thumbnail or preview for the Moment - you can copy a link to share anywhere by clicking the share icon in the upper right
You can click on the drop name at the bottom of the preview to see all the Moments from that drop

You can share all the Moments from this drop from this view of all the moments linked to the drop you navigated to. Direct sharing buttons to X, the Farcaster network (using the Warpcast app), and a copy link button appear in the upper right

You can also find sharing links to individual Moments from the detail screen

Editing a Moment

You can edit a Moment that you have created by connecting the wallet that you used to create the Moment and then opening it’s detail screen. On the detail screen there are a few places where you can makes changes:

You can add a caption: click the pencil icon to see the editable field and enter in your text. Click the checkmark to save or the X icon to cancel.
Change or add a link to a POAP: click the pencil icon to activate the search by ID or title dropdown to select the POAP you want to link to and click the checkmark to save or the X icon to cancel.
Tag people: in the People tab, click the Tag a friend link and enter in the ENS of the person you want to tag in the Moment. You can always remove the tag by clicking the trash icon next to the user’s name.
